Hey fellow vw lovers. I have a 77 vw van with an automatic and I hear they are not all that common, almost rare, can anyone enlighten me on them?

the auto stick isnt all that rare.  if you are interested in a second one, i know a women who is selling her orange 79 auto stick.. its in great shape. she wants like $1400 or OBO      the auto is a very underpowered tranny. but paired up with that flat 4 motor its not to bad.

Just a note..... The bus has a standard 3 speed automatic transmission, not an auto stick. The auto stick was available in bugs & Karmann Ghia's.  The auto stick is a transmission that you have to actually shift the gears manually, but not operate a clutch. The clutch is operated automatically thru an electric signal in the shifter & a vacuum diaphram to operate the clutch release lever. Hope that clarifies.
